101 The Moment I Said It: Poem

After we choose our song and wrote our poem about it, we had to draw some stuff for our display we put up in the lobby. First we had to write the title in a relative font. Second we had to recreate one of our original 25 sketches about the song. I choose the crying eye as it represents the feeling of the song best. Last we had to create a drawing that used lines and shapes to represent our song; my drawing represents desperate hope. I cut the grate out so that I could place a purple paper behind it that had my poem on it.
My cinquain:
Desperation
Depressed, Hurt
Worrying, Sacrring, Crying
Dark, Cold, Lonely, Sad
Danger

101 Stick Project

This assignment was about unity. We were told to assemble 12 twigs and to make an assemblage out of them. The 12 sticks are suppose to unite into one thing, which I did by tying them together. The grid like format signifies organization and support, as the twigs support each other. We next had to make a pen and ink drawing representing the sticks. I choose to trace them and focus on the size and shape of my twigs. Together my twigs were united by nature, so I framed it in my drawing.

101 Dance Installment 2

My previous dance video did not portray the dance in the way I wanted it to be seen. Seeing as our next project is to create a structure that represents our dance movements, I wanted my video to show that as well. I filmed it from above because I want my structure to show the outline of my foot movements, which is viewed best from above.

101 Dance

Interior design has a lot to do with how the body moves through space. So our newest assignment is to create a dance. This dance is to the song that we have been working with and that was represented with an image and a poem.
This first video is my first installment of my dance. I knew the main steps I wanted to do, but had to work on a bridge move.
In the next video, I came up with a bridge and an ending and a way to put in down for someone else to follow.

101 Font Book

Fonts subconsciously speak to the reader just as much as the words do. Certain fonts are easier to read so they are used in novels and newspaper, while some are more attention grabbing so they are used in ads and magazines. As a designer, it is important to know what my designs say to people. This is why we had to create a font book. The front cover is my first name and the back cover is my last name; both in my handwriting, as I think it expresses me the best. Inside I have a page for each letter of the alphabet, so that I may compare the different ways a letter can be expressed. In the back of the book, I have a few pages with particular fonts on them. I have a page of logos, decorative fonts, cursive, handwritten, script, sans script, and miscellaneous. This made me curious of how different people write; so I have a few pages of people signatures. Finally, I made a folder in the back so I could keep some loose paper in it because I practiced writing in different fonts. This project, though it appears random, actually is very useful. The things we create speak for us, so it is important that they say the right thing.

110 Name Tag

When making the name tag, I wanted to make sure my name could be seen from all sides. Originally wanted to make a pyramid out of 2 different colors. While I was playing with them before I put them together I noticed how they made this shape, and I liked it. Using all 4 sides, I wrote my name in my 4 favorite ways.
Then we had to include a self portrait. Since we were practicing contour drawing, I made the portrait out of only lines, leaving out the shading and detail. I think it is an interesting portrait that makes one focus on the lines and structure of my face.

110 Pumpkin

At first when drawing this picture, I understood that it was important to focus on the background. I drew the outline of the pumpkin and worked on the value of the shadows and stuff behind the pumpkin. After critic, I thought I should work on the shadow and shade the pumpkin as well. So i increased the darkness of the shadow directly beneath the shadow and blended it better. If I could change anything, it would be to get rid of the outline of the shadow.
